Solo dance performances (2005-06) by Ranya with live musicians at the famous Lafayette Grill & Bar, the Mediterranean supper club that hosts many of New York City’s big bellydance shows. This video features 5 different costumed performances, all improvised from Egyptian Oriental style to Middle Eastern jazz fusion, including two double-cane dances and a shamadan (Egyptian candelabra) dance. Ranya New York Nights: Live at the Hookah Lounge


Solo dance performances (2006) by Ranya with live musicians at two Manhattan “hookah lounges,” where patrons can smoke traditional water pipes, enjoy live music, food and drinks, and maybe dance a bit with the band! These are two full Oriental shows, improvised, one with a fantastic Turkish-gypsy style band and the other with an Arabic band. Each show features a different candle-tray dance in Ranya’s signature style. See clips on the YouTube video below: the Hookah Lounge selections are the ones that feature a slightly darker, more casual ambiance.
